James Anderson: Bio

I am from upstate New York and still spend time there visiting family. The fall is my favorite time to visit. Autumn leaves, vineyards, apple trees, cold blue mountain lakes, fresh squeezed cider, children and little old ladies selling grape pies by the side of the road and then there's skiing. God I love to ski, but the sea kept calling me. I started running south during spring break. First it was Daytona Beach, then the following year it was Coco Beach, and a year later Fort Lauderdale, then one year South Beach, Miami and then the next year I settled in Key West where I lived for several years. I ran a health food store, played music at night and hoped to be the next Jimmy Buffet. I had sailed with my Dad on Canandaguia Lake as a kid and Key West rekindled my love of sailing and it's where I really fell in love with the sea. I kept running south and finnaly made my way to the Virgin Islands. I sailed down Island on a 81 foot Alden Yawl Called the Dancing Dragon for a few years and then finally settled on St. Thomas. I moved ashore, built myself a little Recording studio and I've been living and playing music here in the Virgin Islands ever since. St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix have all been really good to me. I've played with some amazing musicians over the years and played in awe inspiring venues. Whether playing solo, with Gennaro Della Veccia in 'Dos Guitarras', with Steven Katz in 'Acoustic Gypsies', playing jazz with Jay Carlson or with Dean Prince in 'James Dean', I just love to play music. It comes from my heart, I hope it touches yours.
